Updating Dell Server With No OS

October 3, 2014 in Tech

While trying to set up a Dell T610 I scored on craigslist, I noticed that the firmware and bios were way out of date. I currently have no OS installed so I had search through the Dell support site for ways to update with no OS. Surprisingly this was not easy to find so I decided to document my process here for others to find. I can help just one person my job here is done :). Switch your BIOS to BIOS boot manager not UEFI Download Dell SBUU (System […]

It’s The Little Things

June 12, 2012 in Events, Non-Tech

So I was at the tweetup for Dell Storage Forum 2012 last night and someone asked me, “what was the best part of today”.  My initial thought was there was some great product announcements and it was great seeing some old friends I haven’t seen in a while.  But throughout the day today that question kept coming up in  my head.  So I really started thinking about it and here is what I think. The past few days at DSF12 have been great because they have been different than the […]

Hands On With The PS-M4110

June 12, 2012 in Events, Storage

So the PS-M4110 was announced Tuesday at the Dell Storage Forum keynote and since then there have been a few questions. A better part of those questions have been asked around management. So we pulled David Stevens, Dell EqualLogic engineer for a bit to talk about it. There’s a link to the blog post at the end. First let’s talk a little about what the array is. The PS-M4110 is a double-wide, half-height blade form factor that will support up to 14 x 2.5” drives. The blade features up to […]

Interesting Day at DSF Boston

June 11, 2012 in Events, Non-Tech

So today was my first official day at #DellSF12 in Boston. Turns out the day was pretty slow.  There was a channel keynote and then they took a design tour at the Nashua campus.  While that was going on Lance and myself were tasked with getting the DTC rack in working order.  Luckily for me Lance did the setup while I was at Interop .  Turns out nothing broke during shipment, so everything came right up…even the Server 8 beta box we have.  Which interestingly enough is playing a pretty […]
