2012 in review

January 9, 2013 in Non-Tech, Social Media

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog. Here’s an excerpt: The new Boeing 787 Dreamliner can carry about 250 passengers. This blog was viewed about 1,800 times in 2012. If it were a Dreamliner, it would take about 7 trips to carry that many people. Click here to see the complete report.

Which (Free) Cloud Storage To Choose

December 20, 2012 in Non-Tech, Storage, Tech

There are many free cloud storage options out there to choose from, but which ones are the best?  Do you go by who gives you the most free storage, the one recommended by a co-worker, by a friend, or by the latest pop-up you saw?  Maybe you go the more responsible route and choose based upon reliability, security, ease of use, cost and their support.  Any way you decide there are a few names that keep popping up.  Microsoft SkyDrive, SugarSync, Mozy, Dropbox, Box, Google Drive. There’s a good article […]

My Time With The SonyX Headphones

December 18, 2012 in Non-Tech

There are a lot of differing options about Klout, but the one thing they excel at is getting brands to participate in their perks program.  This is a great way  to get people talking about or even promoting your brand (plus people get free stuff). I was lucky enough to snag one of the Simon Cowell SonyX headphone perks a few moths ago.  Granted these headphones are something I would have never thought about purchasing, mainly because I was not a fan of the huge headphones that looked like they […]

How Do You Measure Online Influence?

November 30, 2012 in Non-Tech

With so  many people/brands online these days how do you determine who to trust or listen to?  Do you look at followers, fans, likes, amount of activity, people they follow, Klout score, or any of the other online influence tools?  I admit, I do keep track of my Klout score not to see how high I can get it but to see if people find the content I am putting out there relevant.  While not perfect (none are) sites like Klout and Kred at least give you some sort of […]

Cold Tweeting???

October 11, 2012 in Non-Tech

I sent out a tweet earlier asking this but figured I could build a poll around it. What are your thoughts on people reaching out to you randomly on twitter?  Do you find it flattering because you may be influential about a topic they need help with or do you find it annoying?  Does it make a difference if it is a person or a brand doing the reaching out?  Take the survey below and let me know, I would like to know the sentiment around this…thanks!

What Happened To The NFL!?

September 17, 2012 in Non-Tech

As I sit and watch the Denver/Atlanta game I can’t help but to think what has happened to the NFL.  I know the replacement ref’s are calling to the best of their ability, but c’mon man!  They are missing a lot of very blatant calls on both defense, not to mention how inconsistent they are on the spot of the ball.  As if the blown calls weren’t enough, I feel as if these replacement referee’s are being influenced by the coaches and the players. Now, I know this won’t hurt […]

It’s The Little Things

June 12, 2012 in Events, Non-Tech

So I was at the tweetup for Dell Storage Forum 2012 last night and someone asked me, “what was the best part of today”.  My initial thought was there was some great product announcements and it was great seeing some old friends I haven’t seen in a while.  But throughout the day today that question kept coming up in  my head.  So I really started thinking about it and here is what I think. The past few days at DSF12 have been great because they have been different than the […]

Interesting Day at DSF Boston

June 11, 2012 in Events, Non-Tech

So today was my first official day at #DellSF12 in Boston. Turns out the day was pretty slow.  There was a channel keynote and then they took a design tour at the Nashua campus.  While that was going on Lance and myself were tasked with getting the DTC rack in working order.  Luckily for me Lance did the setup while I was at Interop .  Turns out nothing broke during shipment, so everything came right up…even the Server 8 beta box we have.  Which interestingly enough is playing a pretty […]

Playing Catch Up!

June 1, 2012 in Auto, Non-Tech

At the time I had my truck lifted I didn’t have the blog so I figured I’d back track a little and tell you about it. I’ve waited over 7 years and went through 3 trucks but have finally been able to get my truck to look the way I want. You can can see from below my truck started out as a plain 2010 Ford F150. It really wasn’t a bad looking truck to begin with, but my wife kept telling me my truck was a finesse truck because […]
