Who Loves Free BBQ and Beer

October 21, 2014 in EMC Elect, Events

Now that I’ve lured you in…Next month is Dell World and a friend of mine over at Cisco, Scott Hanson (@CiscoServerGeek), is throwing a vBBQ for all the techies coming into town. This will be a great way for you to hang out with other IT professionals outside of the conference setting and get to know each other. You can RSVP here!   This year in order to raise awareness of the EMC Elect program, the EMC Elect team will be sponsoring the event and buying the BBQ for the […]

Making My Way To VMworld Europe

October 10, 2014 in Events

VMworld Europe 2014 is almost here. I am not sure about the rest of you but I am pretty excited. For one, this will be my first non-US VMworld and also my first trip to Barcelona! I will be there representing the EMC Elect and talking to others in the community about our program. As it turns out 5 of our elect members also have sessions so I will also be supporting them in those sessions. For a full list of EMC VMworld sessions you can visit the VMworld Europe […]

VMworld Here I Come!

August 20, 2014 in Events

I took a year off from VMworld, but this year I am heading back. If you are going to be there and would like to talk or catch up hit me up on twitter and we’ll arrange something. On site you can find me hanging around the EMC booth with the EMC Elect or in the community space. I’ll be arriving early to participate in #v0dgeball so hopefully I’ll see some of you there as well. If you are not participating this year, I would still encourage you to donate […]

Social Is Great, In Person Is Better

August 5, 2014 in Events, Non-Tech, Social Media

Over my last 6 years or so on twitter I have the had pleasure of chatting with a lot of great people on a number of different topics. Social is a great tool to be able to talk to a lot of people from all over the world at one time, but it still lacks in the  personal connect area. I haven’t been able to attend many of the smaller events in the past, but since joining EMC I have been fortunate enough to do a little traveling. During my […]

TrainSignal IT Survival Kit Giveaway

July 17, 2013 in Events, Tech

If you have been living under a rock and are not familiar with TrainSignal, they are a training company that solves the problem of subpar training. As an IT professional there is surely a course that would meet your needs. One of things I love about TrainSignal is how supportive they are of the community. They showed that support again this year and awarded each of the vExperts a year of free training! I am really excited about this and plan to take full advantage of this offer. One thing […]

It’s The Little Things

June 12, 2012 in Events, Non-Tech

So I was at the tweetup for Dell Storage Forum 2012 last night and someone asked me, “what was the best part of today”.  My initial thought was there was some great product announcements and it was great seeing some old friends I haven’t seen in a while.  But throughout the day today that question kept coming up in  my head.  So I really started thinking about it and here is what I think. The past few days at DSF12 have been great because they have been different than the […]

Hands On With The PS-M4110

June 12, 2012 in Events, Storage

So the PS-M4110 was announced Tuesday at the Dell Storage Forum keynote and since then there have been a few questions. A better part of those questions have been asked around management. So we pulled David Stevens, Dell EqualLogic engineer for a bit to talk about it. There’s a link to the blog post at the end. First let’s talk a little about what the array is. The PS-M4110 is a double-wide, half-height blade form factor that will support up to 14 x 2.5” drives. The blade features up to […]

Interesting Day at DSF Boston

June 11, 2012 in Events, Non-Tech

So today was my first official day at #DellSF12 in Boston. Turns out the day was pretty slow.  There was a channel keynote and then they took a design tour at the Nashua campus.  While that was going on Lance and myself were tasked with getting the DTC rack in working order.  Luckily for me Lance did the setup while I was at Interop .  Turns out nothing broke during shipment, so everything came right up…even the Server 8 beta box we have.  Which interestingly enough is playing a pretty […]
