So I was at the tweetup for Dell Storage Forum 2012 last night and someone asked me, “what was the best part of today”. My initial thought was there was some great product announcements and it was great seeing some old friends I haven’t seen in a while. But throughout the day today that question kept coming up in my head. So I really started thinking about it and here is what I think. The past few days at DSF12 have been great because they have been different than the […]

So the PS-M4110 was announced Tuesday at the Dell Storage Forum keynote and since then there have been a few questions. A better part of those questions have been asked around management. So we pulled David Stevens, Dell EqualLogic engineer for a bit to talk about it. There’s a link to the blog post at the end. First let’s talk a little about what the array is. The PS-M4110 is a double-wide, half-height blade form factor that will support up to 14 x 2.5” drives. The blade features up to […]

So today was my first official day at #DellSF12 in Boston. Turns out the day was pretty slow. There was a channel keynote and then they took a design tour at the Nashua campus. While that was going on Lance and myself were tasked with getting the DTC rack in working order. Luckily for me Lance did the setup while I was at Interop . Turns out nothing broke during shipment, so everything came right up…even the Server 8 beta box we have. Which interestingly enough is playing a pretty […]

Next week I will be in Boston for Dell Storage forum! This will be my first trip to Boston, but between the conference and the events they have planned it should be a good one. For the conference part me and Lance (@iSCSIKing) will have a booth on the expo floor where we will have our DTC shorty rack and will once again host our SAN challenge. We will also be going around getting the latest and greatest info from others their and always looking for our customers and community […]
So it looks like I finally got my new Force10 S55 switches in for the Dell TechCenter lab. These are the first two of the many Force10 products we are going to introduce to TechCenter racks! Now I just need to start creating content around them. I have a short list of things I want to create like: FTOS Introduction Initial Config Stacking Spanning Tree VLAN Is there a particular feature/configuration you would like to see a demo on? Leave a comment and Ill see if I can get it added […]

At the time I had my truck lifted I didn’t have the blog so I figured I’d back track a little and tell you about it. I’ve waited over 7 years and went through 3 trucks but have finally been able to get my truck to look the way I want. You can can see from below my truck started out as a plain 2010 Ford F150. It really wasn’t a bad looking truck to begin with, but my wife kept telling me my truck was a finesse truck because […]

What’s that you say…well Mike Rigsby does a good job of explaining that here over on his blog here. But I am thinking that this is a good way to keep me on track and lose the last 26lbs. I need to drop to get under 200. That might not sound like much, but it is a HUGE deal to me. About 3 months ago I woke up and looked in the mirror and was not very happy with myself. I decided I really wanted to be more active and […]

First off, do you even own a tablet? If so, how often do you bring it to work with you. What do you use it for? Would be more inclined to bring said tablet with you to work if you could…manage your network, storage, servers, etc. I know there are some vendors that offer web based management and but what about the ones that offer specific apps for this kind of management.Do you use them? How well do they work? Does this influence you when you are deciding if you […]
